Maine Starlight Festival

Celebrating the Starlit Skies of Maine

September 7th - 16th, 2012

2009 Acadia Night Sky Festival Poster, by Tyler NordgrenThe first Acadia Night Sky Festival, which took place September 17-21, 2009 on Mount Desert Island, was a community celebration designed to promote the protection and enjoyment of Downeast/Acadia’s stellar night sky as a valuable natural resource is now the Maine Starlight Festival . The festival features day and night activities, including science, poetry, art, family fun and hands-on learning for all ages.

The greatly expanded festival features events around some of the last pristine night skies in the eastern United States and highlights Maine’s growing commitment to measuring the quality of its starlit nights. In partnership with our many event and community partners across the state, we hope to enjoy and protect this inspiring resource for generations to come. Please see the Maine Starlight Festival web-site for all the details.
